a covid tale

Here’s a Covid tale for you.
My pre-Christmas weekend with kids and grandkids was cancelled when my 10 year old granddaughter Ryleigh tested positive for Covid. This was the antigen test which they took just before leaving to come here, and whenever you get a positive reading, it necessitates getting a PCR test for that individual plus everyone associated (meaning my son, daughter-in-law and Ryleigh’s sister, 8 year old Taylor). So they had to cancel the weekend and I called off my other daughter-in-law and her family too. (Given the heavy snowfall we ended up having, probably a good call too.) We did all get to watch Ross Petty’s pantomime (which I always used to take the girls to and hopefully will again) which this year I purchased for us all to watch via the online streaming version, and then all got together on Zoom afterwards. Hardly a close Christmas and that damn Covid wins again! Currently we await the PCR judgement while Charlie and family all wear masks in their own home and are dwelling in separate rooms until we know the results. If there’s any good news in all of this, it’s that Ryleigh does not feel at all sick.
It was going to be such a fun weekend but turned out to be such a disappointment.
Oh well, Merry Christmas and here’s to a safer, healthier, happy 2022.
Cheers.
