Christmas has become a challenging time of year for me: it was just three years ago on Christmas Eve when my son Jamie died. And so it was, I found myself recently watching a documentary about The Grateful Dead, one of Jame's favorite bands. In this film, Jerry Garcia talked about being "lucky to be born into this incredible world", and that caused me to pause and reflect.
Seems to me that at the moment, there are so many negatives around the globe, it's easy to get sidetracked and believe you can't take advantage of the good things. From disengagement in western Canada to Trump's impeachment to Brexit to global warming to uncertainty in Korea to worries about Iraq and Iran to increasing poverty levels to... well, tain't easy being a citizen these days.
And yet, here we are at Christmas time. So let's take advantage of the spirit to be grateful for the things we do have, like family and friends. Working together with a positive attitude, we'll triumph and overcome the evils that threaten to take us down.
Here's to life!!
Merry Christmas, Season's Greetings and let's plan for a resilient 2020!
